I'm feeling PROUD of myself. :)

Yesterday was a pretty cool day.

After a few hours of jewelry making at home, i went to meet the boy for lunch. [one of my favorite things!] We ate a delicious vegan lunch and then i went to a BRAND NEW amazing cafe. [which i will blog about Friday]

While at the cafe, i was working on an interview for something really exciting which i will share with you tomorrow[ish].

While 'researching' for this interview i took a glace at my Tumblr site where i was first sharing my Nightly Doodles... and i was in awe. I'm so proud of how many days i drew, and how far along i've come as an illustrator [not just a girl who doodles]. It's such a blessing. Good golly!

It inspired me so very much that i have decided I'm going to start doodling every night again, in addition to the colored doodles i post on my Nightly Doodles blog.

I'm so excited about this new/old venture that i drew for over an hour last night, which made my heart so very happy!

I recommend looking into your past accomplishments small and large when you feel like you need your passion's fire re-lit.

It helped me so much yesterday.
now off to find me that cupcake. ;)

Monday Motivation Anyone?

As previously mentioned in the last post, this week has just been INSANE so today's post will be very small. BUT i really really do enjoy both of these doodles!

^^ Say Hi to Gertie. :) ^^

This doodle above was one drawn after being inspired by Kimberly's blog post i had the pleasure of reading! I seriously LOVE doodling for her blog and hope i get the opportunity again soon. :)

This week i WILL promise to blog every day though, all my shows are over so this should be do-able! :D

Have a lovely Monday friends!

Markets of NYC! (yay people like me!)

I feel SO honored!!
I had the COMPLETE pleasure to meet Karen Seiger that wrote "Markets of NYC" and she wrote the most INCREDIBLE blog post about me!! It's below. but make SURE you check out her blog too and her book!

You know how sometimes you see something somewhere that just makes you happy? Well, I felt that way when I came across this bicycling unicorn onesie from Nightly Doodles at Artists & Fleas in Chelsea Market last week at A&F’s Third Thursday event.

Jenipher Lyn is a graphic designer and jewelry maker who recently moved here from Florida. She draws something each night, and she has turned her sweet, whimsical, funny images into cards, pendants, onesies, t-shirts, totes and even inspirational books. Her Peanut Butter Jellyfish doodle is perfect, as is her I Love You More Than Art Supplies necklace. Check out the Nightly Doodles Blog too for daily inspiration.

I also love this one. Do you think it’s true?

Wonderfully, it turns out that Jenipher had purchased Markets of New York City at Anthropologie when the guidebook came out in 2010. She told me she brought it with her to New York for two visits before she moved here. And now, here she is, gracing our markets with her bounty of whimsical creations.

Visit Jenipher and Nightly Doodles at Artists & Fleas’ pop-up market inside Chelsea Market (entrance on 10th Avenue at 15th Street.)

Good Golly isn't that stellar! I feel on top of the world from her kindness.
Have a beautiful day friends!

Moody Monday anyone?

Hi friends...It's been quite terrible that i haven't been able to post very much in the last week. Hurricane sandy was a total bummer!!

I was scared to use my computer for part of the week because i didn't know if we were going to lose power and it was just generally very stressful.

Alas, [most] of the trains are back running [except for the poor boyfriends :( he keeps having to wait hours and hours for travel] But other then that, we are safe, and so is our apartment so i feel very blessed.

Chelsea Market is FINALLY back open so please come visit!  I hope everyone is doing alright, and is safe and sound...
*and that Aimee from Artsyville gets power soon!!

Have a gorgeous and safe day friends!
-Jenipher

i present.... [the] Dream Series!

So this week has been just insane...
hurricane Sandy did quite the number on NY, this is my fourth day stuck home, but today i have solid internet which is lovely.
[and appreciated!]

My blog has suffered a little bit, so I'm mixing things up a little bit. Today I'd love to share with you two images from my new collection; the "Dream Series".

I'm really proud of them so far, and even had the 1st one printed on a onesie!

I can't wait to show you the ACTUAL onesie; but i can't get into Chelsea Market yet, and that's where they all are....

Tune in friends, and i hope your safe!!
Stay thankful,
-Jenipher

Chelsea Market: week II

This week has been nuts! I haven't worked full shift days and evenings since 2008 so i'm exhausted, BUT i'm so excited.

My little onesies have been doing SOOO well lately and i'm so proud of them!

A shop in Sweden even purchased some to carry in their shop today!!

I've made great friends here with other vendors at Chelsea Market, have met SO MANY GREAT folks and chatted with them about my art, AND just yesterday, i even sold all three paintings you see below!!!
 [so cool!]

Two and a half weeks left and i have a feeling SO MUCH MORE is in store for me and Nightly Doodles. :)

Stay tuned!
smiles,
Jenipher :)

Blogged: September 17th, 2012.
I have a card set in the WORKS if you'd like!
 Blogged: right now.
I don't have a card version, if you'd like, lol.
I post this because...
the boy and i FINALLY FOUND AN APT!!!!
Last Monday, i posted about our terrible search process, and it's SUCH a blessing to finally find one. BUT because of this long dragged our process, i didn't get to blog Thursday and Friday on my Nightly Doodles blog, and on here last Foodie Friday. :(

I'm going to do my BEST to try and post as much as i can this week.

Off to go [continue to] unpack!
-Jenipher :)

Promos, Postcards .... WICKED!

Oh man... only 7 minutes until Wednesday! Late on blogging AGAIN...

Well, at least i have good reason!
Boyfriend and i just WON two tickets in the lottery to see 'WICKED' the musical. We got our tickets discounted because of it and JUST arrived home. [more on that later!]

These last two weeks, boyfriend and i have been working really hard making new promotional postcards to send to future wholesalers [i hope!] and to current customers as a thank you postcard.

I love how they came out and i can't wait to start sending them!

Tune in soon for some stellar photo collages of our super amazing New York day!

-Jenipher :)

Tell me Tuesday! [and a NEW ND book!]

I know i've posted on here about the book i self published last year.

In 2011, i was given a very generous artist development grant from United Arts Organization. The funds provided me with many things, including funding to [self publish] my own book of "Nightly Doodles"

This 6 1/2 by 6 1/2 square, full color book, houses 18 original illustrations hand drawn by me. All of my 'doodles' are then digitally colored and printed on glossy paper for this book. :)

The book was a big success! Recently, i printed a 2012 edition [again self publishing!] but one day i hope to get the funds or support to have it in bulk. [and have more editions!]

I hope this book inspires you AS MUCH as it's inspired me putting it together.

Would you like a copy?
:) :) :),

Screen Printin A Totes!

I have FINALLY finished fixin' up my doodles in black and white for the totes i'm screen printing.

I think they came out pretty darn snazzy!  Now...off to finish the doodles for the onesies I'm going to create!

Here is a little example...although i can't figure out a way to color screen print the onesies so i'll have to color them by hand unless i want it black and white. :)

What do ya think?

-Jenipher

Cakeballs, Friendships and NYcity.

Today started with a cakeball.
Okay...maybe it didn't START with a cakeball, but my taste buds were VERY happy and content around cakeball time...

see that pretty lady there, ALSO holding a cakeball? That's Laura from Le Animale. She's makes these stinkin' cute animal totems.

^See!! I told you! How cute!^

We spent a little while this afternoon cruising around Union Square, chatting about life the ins and outs of our business'.

The piece of advice that has stuck with me and stressed me out [already?!!?] is learning to blog CONSISTENTLY! Sigh..I'm so terrible at this. I've blogged about it OVER and OVER. lol

ALAS... i've come up with something manageable! [i think?]

Posts to keep the Monday blues from coming. Inspiring things i think will bring joy to your day!

I've had so much progress with my Nightly Doodles blog, THUS i want to show off share these whimsical, encouraging doodles with you here on this blog as well. :)
New things are happening ALL the time in my little tiny NY studio! On Tuesdays, i'll show you what's happening and share my new projects!

I will [always] continue with my food obsession. Fridays on the blog are all about what i made, what to make, or ate this week!

Ha, just wanted to show you the cakeball ONE more time. ;)

There may be a few other blog posts i sneak in there too, but you will now always? YES! Always hear from me on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.

If you find i'm slacking off, slap me!! Or just tell me you miss my posts? Or...i guess slapping will work too after all. ;)

Hope you have an inspired day!
smiles,
jenipher :)

The good kind of Overwhellmed. :)

One YEAR ago {{today}} my bestest bud Amanda Leigh said this to me while i'm guessing i was coming over for the weekend.

It makes me kind of sad that i don't feel overwhelmed by fun... mostly by

fear.
rejection.
loss.
loneliness.

Worrying i'm not doing enough, or doing too much of the wrong things.

But, starting today, i'm really going to try to EMBRACE a new type of overwhelmed.

The fun kind. :)

I reccomend you try it with me!! :D
smiles to you dear friends,
Jenipher

YOU. ARE. STRONG.

This drawing is especially close to my heart.
I have blogged here and there about my struggles with depression and anxiety on my this blog.

Recently, i've been trying to figure out the proper way to deal with these struggles and sometimes i feel like i'm at a loss...

BUT..there is hope!
And i write about it on this blog post. :)

I hope you know you are NOT alone.
I'm here.

I might not know you. I might not know EXACTLY what you're going through, but i do know how to listen. And heck, i'm a GREAT cryer compannion!

Smiles and Blessings,
-Jenipher

Waiting...it's NOT passive!

Last week i went on a Women's Retreat with my church; Skyline City Church. While there, I spent a LOT of time doodling all the amazing messages i heard and wanted to share. I think i have 10 or 12 overall, and this is the first one i created!

It's so true.
We just have to remind ourselves of it!

Now if only i knew WHEN i had to STOP waiting....

Have a glorious day friends!

Nightly Doodles in the MOMA?!

Nightly Doodles in the MOMA?!
BOY...i hope so!!

The MOMA design store was looking for new NYC artists to submit their work to add to the shop. I submitted my work, and got an e-mail saying i made it 'to the next round' aka can bring in samples of my work!!

Late last week, i picked three i really loved [thanks for your help deciding boyfriend!] and brought them and a hand written 'nightly doodles' note card to the office building.

This would be...
IN-FREAKING-CREDIBLE!

Here's crossing fingers that i get picked!
Smiles to you dear friends,
Jenipher

life is so SO good.

It's been so crazy here. But SOOOO good crazy! I've been traveling to see my family and handle some grown up things in Florida. I just got back a few days ago!

While i was there, this LOVELY lady with the pink DO had her SECOND!! art show [in ONE MONTH!] I'm so freaking proud of her, and SO THANKFUL to call her my friend!

Good golly Carissa, i love you.
Her work is amazing, you just MUST look at it.
[here!] and [here!]

I also went from having NO sales in my 'Nightly Doodles' etsy shop, to having not 1... but FIVE!! sales, and a custom order for an original painting! HOORAY!

[i'll show you all of those images tomorrow!]

Amazing things happened while i was in Florida!! I'm still running on the high of greatness!! But instead of being in Floria , I'm doing it while being back home with the boy i love in the city I'm still getting used to.

Life is good. :)
