A post where my heart explodes with THANKS.

Good GOLLY friends!! I'm in AWE. I'm BURSTING at the seams and I am SO THANKFUL!!! My Kickstarter has been up for LESS than a week and i've been supported SO MUCH. I want to cry with excitement!! 

Who knew i'd come so far from being a sad, depressed, hopeless person!! If i can do it, EVERYONE CAN!!!! For serious! I just know this book is going to help so many people, and i can't WAIT to see it's effect!! 
I still have 27 days left and i have COMPLETE faith that i will be ready to print, and fully funded by then! But i would LOVE your help! If you think this will help anyone you know, [or even those you don't know!] please share it!! :)

Who's READY for a BOOK UPDATE?!?


Bout time right!?!

Since my last post I've been writing like CRAZY!!!! 

Last Tuesday night I went to a lecture about children's book publishing. After hearing HOW LONG it took, and how much the editors might change, i left there thinking...

"I'M TOTALLY SELF PUBLISHING!" 

That night, i couldn't sleep because i was so stoked. I came up with a whole Kickstarter plan and have been ready and working on the book like MAD since that evening! 

This book is WAYYY too important to wait two years, and i'm not willing to part with my title i've come up with OR my illustrations.. so LOOK OUT WORLD, this book will be ready by February! 

#crazypants!

My work was PUBLISHED!!!


Ahhhh!!!!! I'm SOOOOO EXCITED!!!!
My 'Lovely Girl' was published inside Zooey Magazine! 

 "Zooey has thrived as a collaborative magazine covering topics like female entrepreneurship, DIYs, entertainment, the modern lifestyle (vintage-inspired), and much more. Zooey doesn’t serve as a guideline as to how one should live, but rather as an inspiration to brighten paths, days, and to shed light on the power in all women. "

I submitted in a WHILE ago and didn't actually know if they'd put my doodle in the magazine, and i CERTAINLY didn't know i'd get a FULL page!! I'm just.... over the moon!! 

The BEST part?? 
Elsie and Emma from A Beautiful Mess are on the cover!! How amazing!!! 



I see this as the FIRST of many features in the future! 

Yay??

YAY!!!

Every once in a while, you have one of those weeks...

Every once in a while, you have one of  weeks... one of those LIFE AFFIRMING, AMAZING things happening, opportunity FILLED weeks... and it's SUCH a blessing. And you sit back at that end of the week, and you think "Goodness. I'm so thankful that i'm on the right path'. 

This week was NOT one of those weeks...

HAH just kidding! It totally was!! 


I mentioned Story NYC a few months ago when they carried my onesies! Well, once a month they have a pitch night, and i was determined to talk about my brand AND my book!

And it went SWIMMINGLY!!!
I'm so thankful! I don't exactly know what this means yet with Story NYC but i am very excited for the possibility!



Being a nervous, scared, but VERY ambitious girl is working to my advantage! KEEP WORKING HARD! Seriously!! Things with come to fruition when the timing is right!! 

And THAT is my encouragement this lovely Friday!!

How crazy that a whole week has went by since my last post... weeks are FLYING BY!

You know when you have your days ALLLLL planned out, and then you hear of some really neato other opportunities and you say 'heck! lets do those things instead?' well the doodle above is EXACTLY that! 

One of my friends from MATS1 posted a link about a painting a mural... i know i haven't mentioned this but I want to paint one in New York soooo badly! So i quickly put together the one above and i'm crossing my fingers!

Have there been any opportunities you'd really like to do?

Or just keep your eyes peeled!! 

It's so exciting to finally DO SOMETHING you've been wanting to do for so long!

 PSS: I didn't have time to re-read this and our computer is leaving to be fixed for a week EEK so i'm sorry if there are mistakes. 

Sometimes we all need a new lightbulb!

You know when you FINALLY think you've figured things out, and you're FINALLY getting excited about the steps to take and all is well in the world.... and then you talk to someone who says something and a GIANT lightbulb appears and you realize that all the thoughts you had just moments before are GONE because now you have a DIFFERENT path you feel you should take.... yeah.... that was the last few weeks for me....


 This giant lightbulb, which btw... i blame Brandy for, has been hindering my thoughts!!!  BUT growing my book little by little... 

Over and over in my brain i keep changing what i want this blog to look like, to mesh with my dreams and that pop in and out of my brain and honestly, i really just need to bribe myself JUST POST and it will s.l.o.w.l.y figure out itself! :)

Here's to not limited...!

Life is SUPER DUPER difficult. There are going to be a million things that get in your way, often ones that make you want to quit. But i strongly encourage you not to! Keep following your dreams!! Keep fighting for whats right! And PLEASE keep moving forward! It's so so important that you do. ..That's all i ask of you....today. 

 Okay...maybe i'll ask that of you tomorrow too. :)

Let me TELL YOU about my.... BOOK!


What were you like when you were a teenager? 

Were you happy? 
optimistic?
An old soul?
Immature?  

Maybe you felt like me, and felt sad and alone most of the time...


 My goal is to write a super honest, encouraging, vibrant book with the intent to help teens feel less alone in this world. BUT a book that women [and men?!] in their 20's and beyond can enjoy as well!

 Right now I'm thinking format would be  quick sad or funny, truthful stories about my life and lots of my new "lovely girl" drawings. Think: getting made fun of for being a virgin then 10 years later being told I am strong and impressive for still "waiting". For waiting for the right person. Or not realizing I literally wasn't dumb until 2010. I want to share how to take hurts and turn them into joys.


Ultimately, my goal to make THE BOOK i WISH i had when i was younger. Something easy to read and relate to, something that's visually stimulating! Something RAW and HONEST and not all sunshine and butterflies.

 I hope you'll continue to follow this journey with me. I'd love to hear YOUR stories!

Man i need to hear this today.... does anyone else need encouragement?? 

I want to share so badly about my trip to National Stationary Show.. but sadly, i have  a LOT to do tonight before we bring our [shared] computer to the computer doctor. [we just had to put mine down to pasture so the fact that boy's computer is broken now too is a bummer... BUT a blessing since they can fix it and not charge us for it!!

Anyways, HAPPY Monday! AND TUESDAY!

Monday Motivation anyone?


This week on the Nightly Doodles blog, i finally blogged for the whole week! phew! FINALLY!

It was a really good mix of silly doodles and inspirational doodles if i do say so myself. :)

And yes... i know i spelled concur wrong. I think... well no, i didn't know, but after my boyfriend, a girlfriend from back home AND a guy i haven't talked to in a LONG time messaged me to tell me... i guess it's spelled wrong.

Ha. It's soo typical of me to have spelling mistakes, i've just learned to EMBRACE them!

This print i custom made for a super cool customer for his mother. His mom was visiting this weekend so he brought her over to Chelsea Market and i got to meet her!
